ACCESS POINT
Wi-Fi networks offer mobile and cable-free access to the local network and therefore also to the end devices in the machine network like PLCs, drive units, visualizations, etc. Our wienet Access Points can be flexibly used as Access Point, Bridge or Client.
Wireless Access Points offer the interface to wireless communication and enable the integration of remote components that are difficult to connect by wiring into your network. It is possible to connect two separated LAN networks or make machine data directly accessible on handheld devices like tablets. Wieland’s Access Points also offer the possibility to establish a secure VPN connection with your equipment by using the WIE-SERVICE24 VPN portal.

When is this Access Point used?
The Access Point gives a technician, who stands close by a connected machine, the possibility to quickly and easily connect to production equipment or a control cabinet with his mobile device (e.g., smart phone, tablet). Hence, he is able to directly display relevant data. The advantage of an integrated antenna is that it cannot be removed or get stolen. Therefore, the equipment, when placed in public spaces, is better protected against willful destruction.

When is this Access Point used?
In situations with signal-demanding environments (e.g., existence of many other Wi-Fi equipment, nearby devices that switch high loads, inside a control cabinet) an external antenna is recommended. The wienet AP ETH-A-A device with its external antenna can also cover larger distances than the wienet AP ETH-A with an integrated antenna.

When is this Access Point used?
By offering 3 RJ45 ports, the wienet AP 3P can be used as a Wi-Fi device with an integrated 3-port switch to for example connect a PLC and a HMI at the same time. By using VLAN (virtual LAN) it also allows to separate different networks from each other (i.e., separation in machine network and company network) to increase the level of security.
